Just How do you determine depression in 5-month olds?

Published by daddams16007 at 4:19 pm under Junk Science Edit This

Occasionally you encounter a “Scientific” study that is just so absurd that it should be dismissed out of hand.

Case in point, this study of depression in preschool or younger children.   Really? Signs of depression in preschool or younger children?  Including five-month old children.  Five-Months?!?

Just how do you determine depression in a baby?

And the conclusion that children were more likely to show signs of depression when their mothers were depressed?  Well, given that all the information came from interviews with the mothers, it just might be a case of projection by the depressed mother.  A depressed mother is far more likely to see “signs” of depression, or at least interpret them that way.

A study based solely on subjective information is not Scientific.
